Myanmar in Brief

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar is situated in south-east Asia and is bordered on the north and north-east by China, on the east and south-east by Laos and Thailand, on the south by the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal and on the west by Bangladesh and India.

The  total land area of Myanmar is 676,578 sq. kilometers, forest covering area is 344,237 sq. kilometers, harvested gross area is 14,772,803 hectares and sown gross area is 15,449,850 hectares including areas under double or triple cropping and coastline is 2,276 kilometers.

Issurance of Insolvency Rules

Today, the Supreme Court of the Union issued the Insolvency Rules for the effective implementation of the Insolvency Law (2020) under Section 416 (a) of the Law.

There are 10 Parts in the Rules and “The facts to be considered to fix the remuneration of the Insolvency Practioner” and “Forms” to be used are inculded as the Schedules.

4th year performance of the Supreme Court of the Union

The Supreme Court of the Union is the superior court of record and has supervisory powers over all courts in the Union and its decisions are binding upon all courts.

The Supreme Court of the Union is doing its best in the fourth year of incumbent government for the development of state judiciary in two prongs for the greater good and finer development on physical aspect as well as moral aspect.

The Chief Justice of the Union , U Htun Htun Oo received a courtesy call from Dr. Christophe Bernasconi, the Secretary General of the Hague  Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) and his team at the Guest Hall of the Supreme Court of the Union at 0930  this morning.

The team of the HCCH comprises of Mr. Frank Poon, the representative of Hong Kong Self Administered Region of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
